«24 HOURS IN A WOMAN'S LIFE» AT THE MALY DRAMA THEATER

08 April 2026
Artur Kozin's third premiere at the Maly Drama Theater was a production of Stefan Zweig's novella "24 Hours in a Woman's Life" in which the author explores the nature of human passions. The audience spends a day with the heroine, witnessing the events that completely change her life. A storm of emotions, a whirlwind of passions — Zweig's novel has delighted directors around the world. Written in 1927, the work is constantly performed on theater stages, remaining relevant to this day. The main character recalls a fateful moment in her life. She is forty years old, has experienced a personal loss, and, having momentarily lost her bearings, finds herself at a craps table in the Monte Carlo casino. It is here that she meets a young Polish aristocrat — devilishly handsome, completely gambled away, and on the verge of suicide. The play's rich dramaturgy creates an essentially endless space for the director's statement about love as a personal challenge, as a test that both shapes and transforms the individual. May Drama Theater actor Artur Kozin, who directed the production, continues to develop in his new stage persona. He previously directed "Guardians of the Taj Mahal" and "Incident in Vichy" at the theater. The leading role, Mrs. K., is played by company star Anzhelika Nevolina. The next performances will take place on April 15 and 16.
